# Fermata > Fermata is a native macOS app that orchestrates multiple Claude Code agents in parallel, each piece of work in its own git worktree, from spec to pull request. It runs on your own Mac with your own Claude; it opens the pull request and you merge. Fermata is a Claude Code orchestrator for the Mac, your own software factory. Describe a feature and it plans, builds, reviews, and opens a pull request, autonomously, on your own machine. There is no cloud control plane and no per-seat plan. You supervise at the gates you choose; it never merges on its own. Fermata is free. ## Install Homebrew, the primary path (macOS 15 or later): ```bash brew tap kelios-io/fermata && brew install --cask fermata ``` Or download the DMG (signed and notarized): https://releases.fermata.run/Fermata-latest.dmg Prerequisites, both required before the first piece: ```bash # 1. Claude Code CLI, installed and logged in (Fermata runs your own Claude) curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash claude # then log in when it asks # 2. GitHub CLI, logged in (Fermata opens pull requests through gh) brew install gh gh auth login ``` Then open Fermata from Applications and pick a git repository with Open Project. - [Install and first run](https://docs.fermata.run/start/install.md): Homebrew, the DMG, the two prerequisites, and what the first launch asks - [Claude Code setup](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/setup): Anthropic's install and login guide for the CLI ## Requirements - macOS 15 Sequoia or later; macOS 26 Tahoe recommended (full Canvas, Liquid Glass) - Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) - Claude Code CLI installed and authenticated. Running agents uses your own Claude; Anthropic meters that usage, Fermata does not include or cover it. - GitHub CLI (gh) installed and authenticated ## How it works A piece is the unit of work: one spec, one pull request. Each piece owns its documents, its git worktree, and its branch, so agents never touch your checkout. Several pieces run in parallel. - Interview: describe a rough idea in a short chat; Fermata keeps drafting until the spec has what a build needs. - Spec: the approved spec is the plan of record; nothing dispatches until it is ready. - Strategy: Fermata breaks the work down and lines up the build. - Agents: a team of Claude Code agents does the work in the piece's own worktree and branch. - Review: the changes land in the diff viewer with an optional code-review pass, then the pull request opens. You merge. Supervision is per piece: by default agents work without stopping for approval inside the piece's worktree; turn it up to approve phases or individual tool calls. A "what needs you" view shows every decision waiting on you, and a Loop board takes work from backlog to done. The engine runs Claude via Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock, or Google Vertex. ## Drive Fermata over MCP Fermata runs a local MCP server (127.0.0.1, token in the URL, off until you turn it on in Settings, MCP). A Claude Code session connected to it can list projects, pieces, and sessions; read a piece's spec, strategy, and reviews; create pieces and file drafts from a spec or a Linear or GitHub issue key; release, update, or cancel drafts; and move a piece through its flow up to opening the pull request. Stopping agents and marking a piece done always ask the user in the app first, and merging is not available. - [Connect a client](https://docs.fermata.run/mcp/connect.md): turn the server on and register it with Claude Code - [MCP tools reference](https://docs.fermata.run/reference/mcp-tools.md): every tool, its inputs, and what it returns - [What you can do](https://docs.fermata.run/mcp/what-you-can-do.md): requests that map cleanly onto the tools ## Docs for agents - [docs llms.txt](https://docs.fermata.run/llms.txt): index of every docs page - [docs llms-full.txt](https://docs.fermata.run/llms-full.txt): the full docs in one file - Every docs page also has a Markdown version: add .md to its URL, for example https://docs.fermata.run/start/install.md ## This site as Markdown - [fermata.run llms-full.txt](https://fermata.run/llms-full.txt): every page of this site in one file - [Home](https://fermata.run/index.md), [FAQ](https://fermata.run/faq.md), [Changelog](https://fermata.run/changelog.md), [Roadmap](https://fermata.run/roadmap.md): each page of the site as Markdown ## Privacy Your code and agent conversations stay on your Mac; Fermata sends them nowhere. When agents run, the Claude Code CLI sends prompts and code to Anthropic's API exactly as it does when you run it yourself. Fermata includes opt-out crash reporting (Sentry) and anonymous usage analytics (TelemetryDeck), both toggled off any time in Settings; neither collects code, prompts, file paths, or project names. ## Links - [Website](https://fermata.run/) - [Docs](https://docs.fermata.run) - [FAQ](https://fermata.run/faq/) - [Changelog](https://fermata.run/changelog/) - [Roadmap](https://fermata.run/roadmap/) - [Discord](https://discord.gg/ZuHEVtchhA) - Contact: hello@fermata.run Built by Kelios LLC.
